El Conquistador Hotel – Oro Valley Arizona
What a great weekend with our American legion family. This weekend was the 105th annual convention held in oro valley at the El Conquistador hotel. The weekend was filled with lots of learning and social events. Posts from all over the state came to celebrate our annual tradition.
Thursdays opening session brought an eye opening experience for the close of a great year and the start of a new one. Newly elected state officials were installed and tears were shed, for the end of an era. Team Sperl did an amazing job this year and we are looking forward for our new Department Commander Manny Beltran to bring forth a new and exciting year for all to look forward to.
Our 2nd annual Run Sac Walk/Run was a great success, many showed up to bring awareness to “Be the One” campaign . We stopped at the local dutch brothers for some coffee and to spend some time with the local state representative Juan Ciscomani, as he joined us with his family on our walk .
Special Thanks goes to 4 times deployed Iraq Army Veteran Bobby Henline for his comedy performance on Saturday night. It was a great success.
The Convention came to a close on Sunday morning with our newly installed Department Commander and staff.
The weekend was a great time for Arizona and the department and a great time for the Arizona American legion Family. We hope to see everyone again next year.
