We remain NUMBER 1 in Membership, but we cannot rest as other departments are working hard to replace us. Here’s a message of motivation to finish strong, to not rest in these final days in our race to HOLD the NUMBER 1 position of all 55 departments nationwide. YOU are making things happen...We need 100% by April 30th, and then the rest is gravy as we move on to exceed the national goal of 103%.

15 APRIL 2026: Commander’s Membership Message
Greetings Again Legionnaires of Arizona,
I received word this week that we are still NUMBER ONE nationally in membership, and I want to thank you for your efforts. It has been a while since AZ has consistently held the number one spot, but I want you to know that other states are watching and challenging to take us down. Members of Arizona…together, WE WILL NOT LET THAT HAPPEN.
Here’s where we stand:
We are the ONLY department nationally to have surpassed the 95% milestone with 4% to go to reach 100%. Our national challenge, however, is to hit 103%, which would put us over 34,000 members….but we are better than that…and I ask you, after your focus on our NUMBER ONE MISSION to “BE THE ONE,” to make your number one priority to look over your rosters and reach out to EVERY expired member and invite them back to your posts. ASK EVERY VETERAN YOU KNOW, or MEET, to join today, and do not walk away without filling out an application…that I am sure you are carrying with you.
District 4 leads our Department Race at 99.37%, followed closely with District 8 with 95.21 %.
OUR Leading post is Whiteriver Post 60 of District 6 with 207.69% membership…and we have over 20 more posts already at or above 100%…with many more at or above 90%…
NOW…We can do this….but only if you believe WE CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN…Don’t give up on me here…We all know we have to dig deep, with extraordinary efforts, and finish strong…
It starts with the attitude to succeed…

We are ARIZONA…..LEAVE NO DOUBT in the hearts and minds of others…When we walk away in 29 days, on the closing day of May 13th, still NUMBER ONE…you will have proven just who we are…A department with restored confidence…strength like we have not seen for many years…YES, we have challenges, but challenges are overcome ONE VICTORY AT A TIME…and this victory is well within our reach.
THIS IS ONE WE HAVE FOUGHT HARD FOR AND WILL WIN if we don’t give up….
Don’t rest on previous accomplishments….THAT is HOW the other departments will catch us, and pass us in the final days….GIVE IT YOUR BEST…YOUR VERY BEST and leave no one behind…again, reach out to EVERY VETERAN YOU KNOW…JOIN THEM… Attack that Post 100 list, and if you don’t know how to get the list, call HEADQUARTERS, or CALL me direct…We’ll help you pull down the lists for members in your area codes. LOOK OVER your roster and call or visit EVERY expired member. If some are short on funds, find a way to help them out…to bring them across the finish line with you.
Now…BE THE ONE to go get this DONE…and DONE before the end of April…everything else will be gravy…and believe me, I love gravy on my biscuits….and that delicious gravy is what we’ll use the two weeks of May to reach even higher towards 35,000 members. That will make us an organization of influence for the recognition and benefits we have earned as veterans of this great country we call home.
YOU ARE NUMBER ONE…let’s make the statement to this organization….to this nation…LOUD AND CLEAR
