The Glendale Housing Authority will begin accepting pre-applications to establish waiting lists for its Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Programs beginning Monday, July 12, 2021. The pre-application process will remain open through August 2, 2021. Low-income families in need of long term rental assistance are encouraged to apply during this time. The application process will consist of collecting basic household information to enter into a lottery drawing; eligibility documents will not be collected during the pre-application process. It is important to note that household members will not be asked to provide social security numbers or asked about citizenship status on the pre-application, but if selected, at least one member of the household must be a U.S. citizen or have a qualifying immigration status to be eligible for the programs. The eligible household member does not have to be an adult and does not have to be the person who submits the application.
The most convenient way to apply will be online at www.glendaleaz.com/housing, but paper applications will be available for pick up at our offices, downloading from our website, or requested by mail, email or fax on July 12th in the following languages: English, Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Farsi, Arabic, and Burmese. Braille applications will also be available by calling 623.930.3708. Free translation services will be provided to anyone needing language assistance. Finally, persons with disabilities who will need assistance may call in advance of the application opening to request assistance at 623.930.3708, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, (excluding city Holidays). The deadline to request application assistance is 5 p.m. Monday, August 2nd.
After the pre-application period, a lottery drawing will be conducted to create the waiting lists and all applicants will be notified of their status. Only one pre-application per household, per program will be accepted, however, households may submit interest for one or both programs at the same time. 350 pre-applications will be drawn for each waiting list. It is possible for one household to be included on both waiting lists if they are selected during the lottery process for both. Those selected will make up the waiting list until the next pre-application process takes place.
