My Fellow Sons;
It is my unfortunate duty to inform you of the passing of Past National Commander Roland Matteson this last Saturday, January 1, 2022.
Please keep Barbara Matteson and the Matteson Family in your thoughts and prayers.
Conversations with Roland on the Thursday (and the four weeks) prior to his passing had Roland in good spirits as he was recuperating and looking forward to attending the Detachment of Arizona Convention this next June and the National Convention in August in Milwaukee, WI. Those discussions did not foresee nor indicate anything wrong – on the contrary – Roland had been improving and in good spirits leading up to Friday evening when he retired for the evening.
Roland passed away peacefully and quietly in his sleep and was found the next morning the same as when he went to bed the evening before.
Planning for services will be sometime in February after several family needs are attended and we will keep all his friends and fellow Sons informed as the information becomes final and complete.
Again, please keep the Matteson family in your thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Chuck Treat
