We have received several reports that our members have received texts, emails, and calls from scammers posing as certain officers, past and present, of our Legion. Be cautious when you are approached, as some of these scammers are very skilled and may be able to convince you they are for real.
For emails and texts, even if you see a familiar name attached, if you are being asked for money, gift cards, or other services, click the name and confirm the number or email is from the person you expected. If you are not sure, contact the REAL person trying to contact you and confirm the message — if real or a hoax.
Again, some of these scammers are quite skilled, but most have huge gaps in their knowledge about you and your organization. Use caution. Don’t fall prey to these predators.

Where to File a Report
Federal Trade Commission (FTC): Report general scams, identity theft, or internet crimes online at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Arizona Attorney General: File online or call the Phoenix metro area at (602) 542-5763 or toll-free at (800) 352-8431 to report consumer fraud and unfair business practices.
Local Police: Contact your city or county law enforcement agency if you experienced direct financial theft or identity theft.
