2022 AZ American Legion Baseball Tournament – First Round Complete

Here are the results of the last two games in our Department tournament first round:

Post 7 Firebirds defeated Post 73 Crush 16-7 (Firebirds advance to championship round)

Desert View Cactus Cats defeated Lofton Panthers 8-3 (Cactus Cats advance to championship round)

Next week’s best-of-three-game series will match the Post 7 Firebirds against the Desert View Cactus Cats. Confirming the game schedule again:

Game 1 – Tuesday at 7:00 PM

Game 2 – Wednesday at 6:00 PM

Game 3 (if necessary) – Wednesday following Game 2

All games will be played at Vista Grande High School in Casa Grande

I really hope to see some Department and Post representation during our final two nights of competition. Other than Department Membership Director Steve Sperl, we’ve seen one post commander attend the tournament for one evening. American Legion baseball administrators and coaches have worked hard this year to explain to players that Legionnaires really do care about baseball. We’ve designed the final round of the tournament to declare a champion on Wednesday night. I hope your schedule next week will allow you an opportunity to demonstrate your support for what may well be the “most visible” youth activity specific to the American Legion family.
