500 Donor SCOUT FUNDRAISER RESULTS

Greetings All, Attached is a recap of a recent fundraiser we participated in. Please disseminate this information to Areas, Districts, and Posts for information and to inspire other such opportunities.  Please know that receipts were sent to all donors, or the email or mailing addresses provided for them.  In some cases addresses were difficult to read, so I ask each leader to provide this information to Posts through their communication chains.
A very generous philanthropist, Dave Alexander on the Executive Board of the Grand Canyon Council, offered to make a donation of $100,000 to the Grand Canyon Council if they could come up with 500 donors on the National Day of Giving (November 30).  Since we in The American Legion have been strong supporters of Scouts BSA since 1919, as Scouting Chair for the Department, with approval of our Commander Ben Headen, I requested all that could to participate.  The results are outlined in the attachment.
While the affected Areas were primarily B and C (as they comprise mostly Scouting in the Grand Canyon Council), we intend to look for similar opportunities to raise funds in Area A for the Catalina Council, BSA that is in the Tucson / Southern AZ areas.  (Note: due to the Area structure, Area A does have a small portion that falls in the Grand Canyon Council, but most is in the Catalina Council, BSA).  Some northeastern areas of AZ fall in the Las Vegas Council, BSA, but the support for AZ Scouting was much appreciated.  As we evolve with the complicated boundaries, we will work to ensure funds are raised that appropriately benefit all AZ Scout programs, regardless of the BSA Council structure.
Thanks to all who participated. We have only just begun to help a proven youth program that has and will continue to develop great leaders needed today and tomorrow.
