Gold Star Wives Host 50th Year Event to Honor all military
Vietnam Era Veterans and Widows
with Vietnam Veterans of America, AZ Department of Veteran Services
The Gold Star Wives, Phoenix Chapter, is hosting an event to honor members of all of the military services and their widows who served during the Vietnam Era time period of Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975. We are in the process of trying to identifying all those who served our country anywhere in the world during this time period or lost a spouse during this time period due to a KIA (killed in action), POW (prisoner of war), MIA (missing in action), DOD (Department of Defense) death or service related injury. “It is a big job a on a short time line”, said Betty Stewart, Chaplain to the Phoenix Chapter. If you know someone who served in Vietnam or was killed and has family left in the area have them contact us right away.
If you are interested in attending the awards ceremony, to be held Saturday, September 22, 2018, please contact Kathy Upchurch 602 799 0240, ksupchur. Pins and/or certificates will be awarded to surviving spouses and some family members. Please contact me ASAP as we must order the 50 year commemoration pins and certificates right away especially KIA, MIA/POW surviving spouses as this information must be turned in by July 22 to DC..
