On Thursday, October 9th, several Legionnaires attended the annual Trail to Leadership luncheon at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel. We are happy to announce that over half a million dollars were raised to help support the myriad of Scouting programs around the state, as provided by the Grand Canyon Council. In the photo, Commander Vaughan is joined by Past Commander Beltran as he presents $1000 from The American Legion, as well as a personal donation, to Council President, Russ Jones (who happens to be a member of Post 19 in Yuma). Many Scouts in attendance were sponsored by Posts of The American Legion, Department of Arizona. Keynote speakers included former Governor Doug Ducey, Sharon Harper, and ASU President, Dr. Michael Crow. The prominent lesson learned was clearly, “the work we do in Scouting today will ensure we have great leaders for tomorrow.”
