Greetings,
I find this message to be warranted and needed for us to better obtain a problem we are trying desperately to solve and I hope you will take the time to read this message.
Complaint.
A common complaint we hear is that Department is not telling us or putting out information on some certain topic. I am sure YOU have hear or felt this way at some point,.
Solution.
Recently we installed an update to the webpage that allows emails to be sent to a mass amount of people.
This is how it works:
A list of all Commanders and Adjutants was pulled from myLegion.org
There were also lists loaded provided by the Department Adjutant that contained Department Level Officers/Committees along with a few other topics.
To set it up we worked with our mail server team to insure that the majority of emails would not go to spam. That did not solve 100% but did solved about 80%.
First we began our test by setting up a daily and weekly email that will go out to show people what was pushed to the website that day and over a 7 day period. Basically the intent was a re-cap for those not regularly going to the website. These emails go out at 1500 every day and 1000 every Sunday. Please understand there are only 2 people posting to the site. Myself, and your Adjutant. Sometimes this information is coming to us from the Department Commander, or from a committeeman in Department with information you need to know. When we post it on the site, a plugin on the webpage auto posts it on our Facebook. To reach each Area and District “group” we rely on members of that “group” to share it from the Department Facebook Page.
At targeted times, we can also use the plug on the website to send individual emails that are not on the webpage to a targeted audience. Sometimes that audience is everyone and sometimes it is only Commanders/Adjutants, etc. An example was todays email about Honor Guard competition. That only went to Commanders/Adjutants with the expectation that they will forward it to the respected party that needs the information.
The intent of this message is to show you some of the changes that we are making to better assist you with the knowledge you need to run your program’s and Post’s.
!!!THERE IS A NEED!!!
There are still emails that are not being read by about 40% of the list. This could be for many reason. For each subscriber we can see what is opened, what is not opened, if links were clicked, what links were clicked, if the person unsubscribed, etc. There are a lot of people not opening a single email, and as a leader of a Post, District, Area, etc. I would hope you would take the time to at least see the topics of these emails, as YOU are the one that is expected to disseminate this information.
Please take the time to check your junk/spam folder and insure those emails are not sitting there waiting to be seen.
The only emails we send will come from [email protected] and [email protected]. If an email comes from outside of our domain (azlegion.org) it is not trusted.
Please email me if you have any questions or concerns.
Respectfully,
Frank Hirrill
Webmaster
