Allow me hand off this gavel with some more reminders about the kind successes Arizona has enjoyed.
- We helped to pass HB2320, which was introduced by Representative Kavanagh and The Arizona American Legion it will provide a tax break to all veteran’s service organizations that rent their building.
- Together, we traveled and represented our incredible department not only within but also beyond the boundaries of our great state. California was visited on two occasions one for legion baseball and another for an intra post visit to aid in rejuvenation. An additional rejuvenation benefit was attended in Texas. Operation 22 PTSD awareness benefit hosted at The American Legion in Mexico as well as visited our National Headquarters in Indianapolis.
- Through the efforts of our legion family, both Boys & Girls State programs met in person this year, when many other departments cancelled. Due to our dedication our younger generation excelled we proudly sponsor those going onto the National level.
- Our ALLECA program continues to be a model emulated by many other departments within our broader Legion Family. Many proud young men and women will carry this experience into their futures.
- Our Arizona Legion College graduated 150 new leaders, which will work to ensure we continue to be here for future generations and enhance leadership in our post.
- Our Sons of The American Legion added a new squadron and are in the active process of reinstating three others.
- Our Legion Riders added two new chapters, bringing the total number of chapters up to sixty-six, with just over 2500 legion family members.
- Each and every member’s involvement epitomizes the true meaning of the American Legion Family. We took this opportunity to come together as old friends and make new friends, during all our endeavors. May we also remember The American Legion, in many ways, reflects the system of democracy which has led this amazing nation for nearly two hundred and fifty years.
Our members are We the People. Through them, each leader accepts the role to represent them. Former leadership, current leadership, and future leadership are enabled to speak and represent them. We stand on their shoulders in our efforts to better our veterans, Legion Family, and our communities. Never lose sight of representing and forging through important topics that benefits our veteran community, making us a stronger alliance for past, present and future comrades.
The humble trust from our members has afforded our great thinkers and leaders in getting us to THIS day. And without our future generations, the sacrifices of our predecessor would be lost. We need all generations to work together to build the foundation for our future and steadfastly ensure no veteran is left behind. Veterans and their families truly strengthen America. Without them and their sacrifice, our Legion Family would not be what it is today. Our ongoing PASSION enables us to foster a community for our future generations. I remain near, to help as called upon. Thank you for the opportunity that you entrusted to me.
