A few days ago, I was honored to have some time with Yolanda Bonilla, who stopped by for a visit to let me know how Donimgo was doing. Since taking the position of Commander, I have been impressed by the “great ones” who continue to do all they can for the good of The Legion. Domingo had previously told me he wasn’t sure how long he could serve, but he wanted to give his all for as long as he could. A couple of weeks ago, he called to tell me he needed to take a little break to battle the effects of Agent Orange that had caused a few new challenges.
Yesterday morning, while at a meeting in Tucson, Yolanda contacted me and passed the disheartening news that he had passed at 0830 that morning. She asked that I convey the news to his Legion Family.
As arrangements are being made, please keep the family in your prayers for now as they work through the necessary preparations. Through this website and our social media platforms, we’ll keep you apprised of plans.
Domingo was a great leader and offered his kindness and wisdom to assist me as I took the reins of the Department. His heart was always focused on his Legion family. He will be missed, yet remembered as one of our great commanders here in Arizona.
