The American Legion Department of Arizona will conduct its annual Department Organizational Meeting on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Arizona Time) via Microsoft Teams.
The Department Organizational Meeting marks the beginning of the new administrative year and provides the newly elected Department Commander the opportunity to appoint chairpersons and members to Department committees and commissions. These appointments establish the leadership that will guide the Department’s programs and initiatives throughout the coming year.
To maximize participation from across the state while exercising good fiscal stewardship, this meeting will be conducted virtually using Microsoft Teams.
Attendance
Department officers, commission and committee leadership, district leadership, and all Department members are welcome to attend.
Travel Reimbursement
In accordance with Department Finance procedures, travel reimbursement is not authorized for general attendance at the Department Organizational Meeting.
Anyone who wishes to attend in person may do so at American Legion Post 25, 480 S. Calvary Way, Cottonwood, AZ 86326, where the meeting will be broadcast live via Microsoft Teams.
Mileage and one-day per diem reimbursement is authorized only for the following positions, as approved by the Finance Committee:
- Department Commander
- Department Adjutant
- Americanism Commission Chairperson
- Children & Youth Commission Chairperson
- Internal Affairs Commission Chairperson
- Legislative Commission Chairperson
- Media & Communications Commission Chairperson
- Marketing Commission Chairperson
- National Security Commission Chairperson
- Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Commission Chairperson
- American Legion Riders (A.L.R.) Committee Chairperson
- Sons of The American Legion (S.A.L.) Committee Liaison Advisor
All other Department members are welcome and encouraged to attend either virtually through Microsoft Teams or in person at Post 25; however, travel reimbursement will only be provided for the positions listed above.
